We will now tell you a little about us and how we got to where we are today, one of the UK's leading gun shops with one of the largest selection of shotguns, rifles, air rifles, optics, country clothing and shooting accessories all at very competitive prices.

The Countryman Of Derby is a family run business that has been supplying shooters with shooting goods since 1984, it was originally started by husband and wife Martyn and Christine, selling at gamefairs and shooting shows during weekends. In 1986 the business moved forwards and a full time retail outlet on Queen Stret in Derby was established. The 500 sq/ft shop in Queen Street allowed us to open full time to the public and grow our customer base and product selection. We first started selling online in 2002 and have built up a loyal customer base both in the UK as well as internationally. As online sales and our workforce doubled to include sons Andrew and Stuart we outgrew our Queen Street store and had to conduct the mail order side of the business from seperate premises for a while until a suitable industrial unit could be found. In 2010 we found the unit we had been looking for on Prime Enterprise Park in Derby, it was large enough to accomodate both sides of the business under one roof being 3800 sq/ft and had free onsite parking for staff and customers.

After the industrial unit had been modified and converted we moved our both our instore retail and mail order operations to the unit in early 2011 under the one roof. Business continued to expand with the increased space allowing us to better display the stock we had as well as further increase the number of brands we stocked to the point we needed more room to display our goods, especially our ever increasing selection of shotguns, rifles and air rifles.

In 2013 we installed a mezzanine level increasing floor space to 4300 sq/ft allowing us to display another 200 guns horizontally on the walls. We now stock pretty much all major shooting brands and have over 800 guns in stock at any point in time alongside associated ammunition, clothing, optics and shooting accessories. Our workforce has also increased beyond family to include Martin, Aiden and Adam who are all very keen shooters and help push the business further forward always looking to increase the knowledge within the business, the levels of customer service we provide and bringing new ideas from their varied backgrounds and experiences on ways we can improve the buying experience.

The stock levels on our website are all updated by our EPOS system in real time so unlike nearly all our competitors who advertise pretty much everything they should be able to obtain, to then order in stock from suppliers to fulfil the orders received. Our website only lets you purchase items in stock in our Derby store ready for immediate dispatch offering a much greater level of customer service, ordering in goods to fulfil customer orders inevitably leads to several days of delays and then more often than not, leading the order being cancelled and refunded as the supplier is also out of stock of the item.

We now offer retail finance both on our website and instore via Omni Capital, our basic rate is 12/24 months and 9.9% APR as shown on the finance calculator on the product pages, we can offer finance up to 60 months but at 19.9% APR.
